Innovative egg colours for marking product and packaging safely

To mark World Egg Day 2020 today (Friday 9 October) SIMACO GMBH has expanded its product range with red, blue and green inks for the food-safe direct coding of this oval basic food.

Easter is not the only time of the year for colouring eggs!  Colouring which is conspicuous, resistant to abrasion and boiling is required day after day in order to mark them safely.  However this must be free from harmful substances and suitable for contact with food – just like the red (FPD3107089), the blue (FPD3007039) and the brand new green (FPD3307900) SIMACOLOR inks which will be available as from October in time for the 24th World Egg Day.

The in-house developed printing inks based on harmless ethanol / water are approved not only for indirect food contact but also for direct contact in compliance with the corresponding requirements of the REACH regulations for the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals and the Globally Harmonised System of Classification, Labelling and Packaging of Chemicals (GHS).

Food-safe direct coding

The inkjet consumables with a shelf life of up to twelve months are therefore absolutely safe and reliable to use both for coding the cartons in which they are packed and for clearly marking the eggs themselves.  They are even resistant to abrasion and boiling on such porous surfaces with a drying time of only three to five seconds.

The inks developed by SIMACO GMBH, a member of the European Association of Producers of Paints, Printing Inks and Artists Colours (CEPE), and produced exclusively in Germany, also provide excellent results for the food-safe direct coding of meat or the marking of film which comes into contact with food.  The good value new continuous inkjet products which are completely free of "substances of very high concern", so-called SVHCs, are first choice above all for marking eggs and their packaging with perfect adhesion.  And that is not only the case at Easter time or today on World Egg Day!
